About the studio
Atelier Ginkgo is a collective of tattoo artists on the second floor of a building on Kingsway, in East Vancouver. It opened in 2021 and is set up for privacy and comfort — no shopfront, no walk-ins, and a quiet room for the length of your session.
I moved here in September 2026. Snacks and drinks are on hand, and there's a balcony for a breather between passes.
By transit
- The #19 bus stops right outside the door.
- The #29 and #33 stop at Kingsway and Slocan, a short walk away.
- From 29th Avenue SkyTrain station it's a 10–15 minute walk down through Slocan Park.
By car
- Free all-day street parking on Slocan, Ward, Duke, Wales and Rhodes, and on East 37th.
- Kingsway itself is only parkable on Saturdays and Sundays — during the week, use the side streets.
When you arrive
- We're on the second floor. Come for the time we've booked — no need to be early — and I'll let you in.
- Bring ID. Consent forms are done at the studio, so there's nothing to print beforehand.
Before you come in
Studio rules
Nothing here is unusual, but reading it takes two minutes and saves an awkward conversation at the door.
- Bring photo ID
- You must be 19 or over to be tattooed by me, and I do check. No exceptions, and no tattooing minors with a parent's permission.
- Eat properly first, and drink water
- A real meal, not a coffee. Sitting for hours on an empty stomach is how people end up faint, and it makes the whole thing harder than it needs to be.
- Nothing to drink or take beforehand
- No alcohol and no drugs before your appointment. Both thin the blood, which affects how the ink sits and how it heals. If you turn up having had a few, I will not tattoo you and the deposit is gone.
- Don't come in if you're unwell
- If you're sick, or the area has a skin infection, a rash or fresh sunburn, message me and we'll move it. Better to reschedule than to sit through a session feeling awful, or heal badly afterwards.
- Keep the whole day free
- Sessions run as long as the piece needs. Don't book anything afterwards, and tell me in advance if you have something you cannot move.
- Wear something practical
- Clothing that gives easy access to the area being tattooed, and that you don't mind getting ink on. Comfortable beats smart — you'll be in it for a while.
- One guest at most
- It's a small, private studio. One person with you is fine if you'd rather not be on your own — more than that and it gets crowded for everyone.
- Paperwork is done at the studio
- Consent and medical disclosure forms are completed at the studio before we start. Nothing to print or fill in beforehand — just turn up and I'll walk you through them.
